Real Fake Wacky Packages Poster

If you're reading this you probably own, have owned, or at least heard of Wacky Packages.

They've been extremely popular from the sixties up to this very day.

This popularity has spawned down right rip-offs, but I prefer to think of this poster from 1977 as an homage.

What's fun about this poster is that it's a photo of a real fridge stuffed with "real" wacky products.

It's very well done, but not quite as funny as actual Wacky Packages. I don't know where this poster came from exactly, but I believe it's from one of those monthly Scholastic book order things you got in elementary school. If you know anything more about its origins please leave a comment.

Anyways, click on the image below for an extra super huge almost poster-size picture.

  2. David, that is very cool indeed. As a Wacky Packages fan from the 70's to today and someone who made a lot of homemade images himself, this picture is a joy to behold.

  4. Thanks SO much for posting this... I had the same poster as a kid (I was 10 in 1977) but lost it somewhere along the way. And you're right, it was a Scholastic book service thing... I haven't found it attached to any of their magazines (Bananas, Dynamite, etc.) so I presume it was just a poster they sold. I don't remember, either.

Anyway, I've been looking for one on eBay or wherever just to "bring back the memories." So thanks very much for posting the image. It made my day!

  5. OMG thank you so much for posting this.. I was under the impression I would never see it again.

I remember buying one of these posters at a book fair when I was a kid. A few years back I searched for it under wacky packs posters but didn't think it was a faux wacky pack immitation.

Thanks again.. this brings back some great memories.

  6. I remember my 6th Grade teacher having this poster back in 1991-1992. She had put it up for Halloween, and I'd spend every free minute I had staring at this poster.

  7. I love it! I actually owned this poster as a kid! I stuck it to the refrigerator and my mom thought it was so funny it stayed there for over a decade! I had hoped to get it before my mom sold the house but alas it ended up in the trash somewhere.

    Thanks for the share!

  8. I have been searching for this for years!!! My mom taught school for 41 years and for whatever random reason she had this poster up in her classroom for a good chunk of the 80’s and I have been desperate to see it again. Thank you for the memories.
